
Bill Ferris and Joseph Skrzynski of Australian Mezzanine Investments
(AMIL) in Sydney, Australia and John Castle and Leonard Harlan of Castle Harlan
Inc (CHI) in New York, USA joined together in 2000 to form CHAMP Private Equity.
John Castle and Leonard Harlan first worked together in the mid 1960s as executives
in the formative years of Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette (DLJ). Together
John Castle and Leonard Harlan created Castle Harlan in 1987, and have raised
and managed four private equity funds in the USA.
Since 1987, CHAMP Private Equity, AMIL and CHI have collectively invested
over A$2.7 billion of equity in support of more than 60 portfolio companies,
totalling in excess of A$11 billion in transaction value. As of 2002, these
companies had revenues of over A$7 billion, and more than 70,000 staff in
some 20 countries.
