CHAMP’s approach to enhancing business value is to partner with management in developing the firm’s strategy and to identify the most creative use of people and capital. CHAMP seeks to leverage its experience and business networks to assist its investee companies to achieve their growth objectives.
CHAMP values and rewards its relationships on the “buy-side” and “sell-side” of the investment cycle, and from Sydney to New York it has an extensive and deep network of potential buyers, investors, intermediaries and underwriters. This invaluable resource has been built up over more than 30 years by CHAMP’s founders and investment team. In addition CHAMP has a network of over 50 affiliate investors, who are past executives of CHAMP and CHI portfolio companies, as well as influential business people in a wide variety of industry sectors.
An investee company will typically spend three to five years
within the CHAMP portfolio. During this time, CHAMP works actively with management
to focus on the key growth drivers of the business. This typically involves
jointly identifying the most attractive opportunities available, and ensuring
the appropriate skills and resources are committed to realise the potential
value. In some cases this has also involved exiting some lower contributing
activities to improve overall quality of earnings and to increase organisational
focus.
